What We Do

We design, develop or retrofit, and manage carbon-neutral and net-zero residential communities that are resilient to climate change, healthier for the residents, and better for the environment.

Our Approach

The backbone of our assets is a better building envelope – exterior walls and roof made from Structural Insulated Panels (“SIPs”) – offering significant advantages to traditional building materials:

  • Entire shell can be locked tight in 4 working days approximately 1/5th of the time of conventional shell construction
  • SIPs are an engineered product that can meet the required loads and are also inherently much stronger that conventional framing (160+ MPH, CAT5 hurricane wind rating)
  • Because of superior insulation, SIP buildings use approximately half the energy of conventional buildings making it much easier to achieve Net Zero Energy

About Our Firm

AVANI Residential is a vertically integrated and socially responsible development and operating firm specializing in ground-up development and strategic retrofitting of attainable, sustainable, and tech-enabled single and multifamily housing. Our strategy is targeting primary and secondary suburban locations within high growth corridors in the Sunbelt states and select markets in the Pacific Northwest, Mountain West and Midwest regions.

A shrinking construction labor force and antiquated building technology are driving innovation to the built environment. At the center of this are alternative and off-site construction methods that are more efficient, better for the environment, and far more resilient. These methods serve as the foundation for how we are reinventing the housing sector.

Sustainability, attainability, adaptation of new technologies, ESG, and DEI are at the core of our business, delivering net zero, carbon neutral, high performance and precision engineered smart homes across our geographies, solving for attainable housing while working with municipalities to create local jobs, improve neighborhoods, and produce tax-efficient alpha for our investors. 

In it’s current form, AVANI was formed in 2023 and is headquartered in New York, NY, with offices in Tampa, FL.

J. Corey Donahue

J. Corey Donahue

Co-founder & CEO

A lifelong entrepreneur, prior to co-founding AVANI, Corey founded Bettr Homes and RYZ Roofing. Previously, Corey was the founder and COO of Second Avenue, a 3rd party SFR platform focused on deployment of nearly $3B into the SFR space. Earlier in his career, Corey served as an equity holder and Head of Central Florida for Invitation Homes (a Blackstone company). During his tenure, he was responsible for the deployment of over $1.2B and managed the purchase, rehabilitation, leasing, and property management of over 12,000 single family homes, hired and managed a staff of over 350 employees and 1,000 contractors.

Corey has over 20 years of creative real estate investment experience, in both the residential and commercial markets.

Recognized as a leader in the SFR space, Corey has spoken before thousands of industry leaders regarding deal structuring and financing of various types of real estate investment projects. Corey also serves on the board various NFPs working in the foster care system.

Corey lives in Tampa, FL with his wife and 5 children.

Dino P. Christoforakis

Dino P. Christoforakis

Co-founder & CIO

Currently the co-founder of AVANI and the founder of Vential Investments, Dino brings 20 years of experience in domestic and international real estate investment, capital markets, and development across all major asset classes and strategies. Previously, Dino was responsible for acquiring office, life science, and retail properties at CBRE Investment Management and was the head of transactions, asset and portfolio management for office, retail, and mixed-use real assets across major North American markets at AFIAA, a Swiss global pension fund investment foundation.

Earlier in his career, Dino was responsible for acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management of retail, industrial, residential, and mixed-use real estate across major U.S. east coast markets at MCB Real Estate and held leadership positions at various other firms in the U.S. and Europe.

Dino earned an MBA in Real Estate and Finance from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and is an active member and district leader of the Urban Land Institute.

Dino lives in New York, NY with his wife and two children.
